Car Care After Tinting, PPF or Coating
Short answer. After tinting, keep windows up for three to five days and expect temporary haze or small water pockets while the adhesive cures. After PPF, avoid close-range pressure washing of edges for about a week. After ceramic coating, follow the curing window your installer specifies and avoid washing during it.
After window tint
Windows stay up for three to five days. Winding down early can lift an edge before the adhesive has cured.
Haze, slight cloudiness and small water pockets are normal during curing and clear as moisture escapes. Don't try to press them out.
When you do clean the inside of the glass, use an ammonia-free cleaner and a microfibre cloth. Ammonia attacks film adhesive.
After PPF
Leave edges alone for about a week. Close-range pressure washing can lift an edge that hasn't fully bonded.
Minor texture or faint haze in the film usually settles as it conforms and the solvent flashes off.
After ceramic coating
Coatings need a curing period before first wash — your installer will specify it for the product used.
Avoid automatic brush washes permanently. They are the fastest way to put swirls into a freshly corrected and coated car.
Ongoing
Two-bucket hand wash, pH-neutral shampoo, microfibre drying towel. Remove bird droppings promptly — at Penang temperatures they etch clear coat within days.
