Questions

How much does car tinting cost in Penang?

Entry-level dyed film starts around RM 300–600 for a standard saloon, carbon film runs RM 600–1,200, and nano-ceramic sits between RM 1,200 and RM 2,800. Premium multilayer ceramic goes higher. Glass area matters — an MPV costs more than a Myvi.

What is the legal tint percentage in Malaysia?

The front windscreen must allow at least 70% of visible light through, and front side windows at least 50%. Rear side windows and the rear windscreen have no VLT limit for private vehicles.

Will tinting reduce the temperature inside my car?

Yes, but the size of the drop depends on the film's infrared rejection, not its darkness. A high-IRR ceramic film at a legal 70% front VLT will cool a cabin more than a dark dyed film.

Is ceramic tint worth the extra money in Malaysia?

In this climate, generally yes. Ceramic rejects more infrared at a legal VLT than dyed or carbon film, so you get a cooler cabin without darkening the front glass past the legal limit.

Does ceramic tint block Touch 'n Go or GPS?

No. Ceramic film is non-metallic, so it does not interfere with RFID, GPS, radio or mobile signal. Metallic and sputtered films can.

Will ceramic tint turn purple?

No. Purple fade is a dyed-film failure. Ceramic film has no dye layer to break down, so it holds its colour.

Can I tint my front windscreen in Malaysia?

Yes, provided the glass still transmits at least 70% of visible light after the film is applied. Darker windscreen film is not permitted on private vehicles.

Is windscreen tint worth it if it's almost clear?

Yes. Heat rejection depends on infrared blocking, not visible darkness. A high-IRR ceramic film at 70% VLT noticeably reduces the heat coming through the largest window in the car.

How much does windscreen tint cost?

Ceramic windscreen film for a standard car typically runs RM 400–1,200 depending on the film series and the size of the glass.

Is TSER or IRR more important?

TSER. It measures total solar energy rejected across the full spectrum. IRR often refers to a narrow infrared band chosen to produce a flattering number.

What VLT is legal in Malaysia?

At least 70% on the front windscreen and 50% on front side windows. Rear side windows and the rear windscreen have no VLT limit for private vehicles.

Tinted depan berapa peratus?

The front windscreen must transmit at least 70% of visible light, and front side windows at least 50%.

Can rear windows be fully blacked out?

Rear side windows and the rear windscreen have no VLT limit for private vehicles, so darker film is permitted there.

How is tint measured at a roadblock?

With a VLT meter clamped over the glass, reading glass and film together.
